At the beginning of the Design Phase, we encourage every single one of our clients to think about what they want to achieve from their extension. It’s so important to think about the small details as they affect the envelope of your home. If you love the look of pendant lighting over your kitchen island, we need to make sure we don’t place a Velux over your island. Our Interior Design Service is fantastic for clients who want to delve a little deeper into the finished details, and have some assistance in creating their finished space, at the very beginning.
We recently completed these beautiful 3D visuals for our client on Byne Road. They wanted a concrete floor, and they wanted some guidance in creating a look that was warm and inviting, alongside their vision. We recommended off-grey units, blue furniture, and concrete pendant lights to bring unity between the floor and ceiling.
The homeowner wanted to have a living, dining and kitchen space all in one open plan room. This is very common in modern day homes, particularly among families with young kids. Open plan living needs some careful thought, as you want to create zones within the room which occupy a definitive function.
We suggested a kitchen island to complete their kitchen, which helps to define the kitchen zone as it closes off that area. Under skirting LED lighting is becoming very popular, and is an incredible way to inject a feeling of warmth into your home. We used polished white resin on the kitchen units to compliment the concrete floor. The ‘bookending’ full height units contain a double-oven on the left of the plan and a coffee machine to the right.
To provide a visual separation of the zones, we lowered the height of the ceiling in the kitchen to cover the steel beams. You might also be able to see a shadow-gap between the units and the ceiling to better define the units. The TV has its own built in credenza unit in the same material as the kitchen surfaces and the island helps to tie those spaces together.
